She was equipped with an icestrengthened hull for this purpose and it underwent a major refurbishment in 1986, and again in 2006 where she was converted into a yacht. The winches used for pulling the large fishing nets have been removed, the stern has been altered to incorporate a landing platform, a small swimming pool and large outdoor dinning area with BBQ facilities. The walls of three research laboratories have been removed and the area refurbished into a beautiful dining room with surround music for an intimate relaxed dining experience. On the upper deck walls have been removed and refurbished into a TV room with large screen plasma and surround sound. This room adjoins a large sun room/lounge all with leather lounges. A number of cabins have been altered and refurbished to incorporate ensuites and with double beds with double innerspring mattresses for a comfortable nights sleep. The master stateroom has been refurbished to incorporate a large ensuite, queen size bed and leather lounge area. An enclosed deck area has been remodelled to a very enjoyable bar area with cane furniture, large TV with surround sound, touch screen music and karaoke system. Below deck a number of cabins have been changed to a spa room and massage room for the enjoyment of passengers. Other facilities added to are: -diving equipment for 10 passengers, -a large fishing boat, -a ship’s tender boat, and -gym equipment. Communications systems are the latest technology has to offer, including Fleet55 satellite system, high speed internet facilities and satellite television stations.
